Vértice del Frío

It is located in one of the areas with the most extreme climates in the entire Iberian Peninsula and with one of the highest depopulation rates in all of Spain. The project aims to recover the forests of this historic area, which in the past was a large forest ecosystem. The junipers that once inhabited this area were used as wood for the ships that sailed the waters in colonial times. The ecosystem has not been able to recover due to the erosion of the exposed soil, which suffers from high temperature variations, significant precipitation gradients and strong winds. The species we plant here are adapted to these conditions, and they grow slowly but surely!

Cobijo de sabinares

The Cobijo de Sabinares reforestation project is located in the Dehesa de la Alfahuara, considered one of the most important natural areas in Almería. Thanks to the hunting practices of the Marquises of Velez, it remained incredibly "wild" since the Middle Ages. Today, since the 90s, it is public land. The scarce development of vegetation denotes past agricultural use and livestock exploitation that slows down the evolution towards a wooded mass. However, this livestock exploitation is part of the local people's way of life. For this reason, reforestation must be specially protected. Among the native species to be planted, the White Juniper stands out. A typical Spanish tree, which has large forests in the Peninsula. However, given the high quality of its wood, its population was greatly reduced to very critical densities. In addition, the forest will serve as a green wall against desertification and create an important oasis of biodiversity. It will take a lot of initial maintenance and expert hands to ensure that this forest takes root and lasts for hundreds of years.

Collados Pasiegos

The "Collados Pasiegos" project faces one of the biggest environmental problems of the Cantabrian-Burgos mountain range: deforestation. As a result of a history that includes an intensive livestock farming culture that has heavily utilized the territory, many hectares of forest have been lost. Another significant factor in the deforestation of this area was the provision of wood to the Royal Artillery Factory of La Cavada in the 18th century. However, this area is declared by the Ministry as an SEZ (Special Conservation Zone).

La Cima de los Pottokas

Extremadura is one of the communities that has a self-explanatory name, and the conditions in its municipality with the highest altitude are not far from such a description. The name of this region comes from the wild horses that live and graze freely on the bare tops of the mountains in the area. The municipality of Piornal, where this site is located, is the highest in all of Extremadura. The project aims to recover the original arboreal vegetation of the environment to favor biodiversity and the conservation of key species for the Natura 2000 Network and habitats of community interest, in addition to acting as a carbon sink and having a positive impact on the socioeconomic development of the area.

Valle de los Sueños

This area is located in the Sierra Norte de Madrid, within the Sierra del Rincón, which was declared a Biosphere Reserve in 2005 for its exceptional forest ecosystems, among which its native oak and pine forests stand out. This area is the area of ​​the Community of Madrid that suffers the greatest depopulation. Deforestation suffered by excessive logging and agricultural and livestock use generated soil degradation that hinders its natural regeneration. This reforestation project will revitalize the region, recovering the ecosystem, generating employment and giving visibility to this admirable area of ​​the Sierra Norte, where there are a total of 20 "green routes" that invite hiking, an activity that can be combined with a visit to this forest that will grow with patience and with your help.
